Martin Gill was never a man for convention. He is a characteristically suicidal cyclist who jumps at the oddest of occasions in races but there are times when persistance pays off. Martin held his head on Patricks day in the support race to the Carrick Cup and came in an excellent 4th place. With Patricks 6th last week, Conors close presence following illness and Martins confidence boosting result on Patricks day the stage is set for an excellent Gorey. The fourth member of the team, Mark, is in steady training and with his wealth of experience we can only wait in anticipation to see the impact this team of four can achieve. Well done Martin, keep it up!
And again on Sunday in weather that can only be described as wet Martin came in with a reasonable result in 10th place. He was pipped at the post for 9th by Alex Williams of SCC who showed his natural strength by bridging the gap up to this middle group.
